Human Development Society (HDS) is an indigenous, non-government, not for profit and non-sectarian organization that came to existence on February 15, 2002.
A group of young and energetic individuals with commitment, voluntary efforts, and motivation, contributed to provide a space to marginalized segments of the society for the reduction of poverty and gender inequalities in Pakistan.
HDS is working for social harmony, interfaith cohesion, and development of vulnerable segments of the society. By its nature as human-centered organization, HDS is focused on socioeconomic empowerment of women, youth and children.
As the existence of socio-cultural scenario on power imbalance, and discrimination at all levels for marginalized groups HDS is striving for their access to basic human rights. These include the minorities, especially abled groups.
A socially just, tolerate and peaceful society, where every person has access to basic needs and enjoy the basic rights without any discrimination.
To enhance capacity of community groups to address basic needs, rights as well as in tolerance between different religions, sects and tribal conflicts in perspective of historical background of Sindh.
To graft present development initiatives with historical positive gestures and practice which promoted peace, tolerance and harmonies like Natak mandalies, indigenous games, folk music's and indigenous wisdom and it's their revival with new shapes.
To enable rural communities to plan, implement and manage developmental activities to achieve their basic rights and needs, alleviation of poverty and improvement in the quality of life.
To undertake the research to identify basic needs of communities to apply different data collection tools.
To arrange village assemblies to prioritizations of identified issues and form gender balance group to develop strategy to solve identified issues.
To provide basic needs like education, health, water and sanitation and other facilities to access government institutions and other donors.
To address the issues of negative customary practices like honor killing, exchange marriages, Vani, early child marriages through community gathering, seminars, rallies, posters, and electronic print and social media.
Human Development Society (HDS) is governed by Executive Committee (EC), which affirmatively see the organizational Policies, Decision making and governance and work independently.
The EC consists of Five members including Two Male and Two female and one Chairman/Chairperson. The EC comprises of development professionals, intellectuals, academicians, activists and media persons.
Human Development Society (HDS) is led by Executive Director, the formal head of the Organization who reports to Chairman/Chairperson of the Executive Committee.
The Executive Director is supported by the manager programs and team of coordinators of different sections/programs jointly forming management structure for HDS.
Human Development Society is focused on the socio-economically disadvantaged community groups, women, youth and children.
The focus groups include minorities and special groups such as widows and physical impaired persons and elderly people.
HDS has undertaken initiatives in Sindh with special reference to Sukkur, Shikarpur, Kashmor@Kandhkot, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Ghotki, Naushehro Feroze, Dadu, Nawabshah and Karachi.
Working through collaboration with local CBOs and activists across the province.
